I’ve been blogging for 9 months now and I have to say I haven’t made much progress numbers wise. If you go back to one of my previous posts about my most frequently asked questions, you know that numbers are not really a big deal to me because I genuinely enjoy doing this and my blog could act as a portfolio for future employers. But really it is a bit discouraging because employers and brands do care a lot about engagement, page views, reach, etc. I love writing, so the numbers aren’t discouraging enough to make me want to stop but I know that I haven’t been putting my best foot forward.
With the amount of things that I am trying to accomplish in 2019, coupled with my school and work schedule I really don’t have much time for leisure but I always seem to force it into my schedule which I feel like has been delaying my progress. I’ve been trying to work on becoming more organized and managing my time better so that I can get everything done in a timely fashion instead of sitting on my ideas. (PROCRASTINATING) Of course I’m still happy with what I have done with my blog and that I’ve remained somewhat consistent but there’s always room for more growth.
With all that being said I have been itching for the longest time, to start some type of a series on here, but I could never figure out what I wanted to write a series about. I finally figured out what I wanted write about a while ago and I’m just now feeling ready to stop sitting on the idea and just put it out there.
I’m going to be introducing a new category onto my blog where I’ll highlight the accomplishments of black women. Basically each post will be about a different woman and these women could be bloggers, socialites, celebrities, women in politics, etc. Any type of black woman could get featured in this new category and for the most part, I will just be gathering as many facts as I possibly can on my own and making a post based off that, but if I can get a hold of some of these women I will try to interview them. I am not going to say how often I will be posting to this new category because it’s still in the works but it will definitely be a consistent factor on here.
The purpose of this category is not just so that I can have a series on my blog, just to say that I have one, it is mostly for motivational purposes. From experience, when I was going through my depression because of not knowing what my purpose was, seeing other girls accomplish their goals after hearing their challenges, was extremely motivating and helpful to me. I hope to bring some of you out of your ruts by highlighting some of the same black girl bosses (and more) that helped me out of mine.
Stay tuned and don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter, I promise you won’t regret it in the log run.
